Why change the time?
Firstly this is symbolic of the paradigm shift that nvc offers.
On a practical level it increases our daylight hours with morning' darker for a bit longer (this can support a better night's sleep when camping) and longer summer evenings. It offers an exotic, Mediterranean, feel to the day.
As we settle an hour in advance of our neighbours any noise we make, if dancing or singing, has less impact.
It supports teenagers to stay in rhythm with the rest of camp.
On the last day there is more time to pack up and travel home (as you get the hour back!)
This system has been used at Dance Camp Wales for the last few years and has been proven to be very successful in supporting time keeping and well being.
Can I bring my dog?
Sorry, apart from one specific dog who has been coming to each camp for seven years, the land owner has requested no dogs.
I can't walk far let alone camp and I wouldn't be able to stay in a dormitory, is there any way I could still come?
We have two single rooms available that are next to a toilet for the disabled. These rooms are near the group room and dining area. Contact us to discuss whether these rooms are still free and whether one of these would suit you.
Can anyone come?
Yes, the camp is open to all. We ask that, as a minimum, you read Marshall Rosenberg's book 'Nonviolent Communication, a language of life' or watch the dvd version (available at: youtube.com/watch?v=XBGlF7-MPFI).
Is there child care at the camp?
This is a camp that we create together. There will be no organised childcare in place.
Please, if you need support with children/dependants look around to the camp community for support – speak up in the morning circle if needed. Practice seeing your requests as gifts to the group. If you don’t have dependents with you and/or you are already well supported, please come with an openness to supporting others in need.
Is it a big camp?
Camp numbers will be limited to 35 people of all ages.
Can I bring my camper, caravan or trailer tent?
There is scope for any of these however it is envisaged that most people will be camping in tents. Please contact Peter to confirm availability.
I'm sensitive to noise at night can I camp away from the main group?
We are a community camp and are keen to keep a community feel by sharing activities in close harmony.
There are opportunities to camp in more private locations.
Can I arrive early and/or leave late?
The site is used by other groups immediately before and after us, therefore the site isn't available outside the camp dates.
If you need to arrive early or leave late then please contact Peter and he will try to support you to find alternatives (like staying with local NVC people)
Is the site hazardous?
The site is a working farm and set in a rural location and as such there is freedom to interact in a way that is not restricted. There are areas that are 'out of bounds' that belong to the site owners - these will be clearly marked and shown to you, please respect this as it is for your safety as well as the owners privacy. All machinery and farm equipment is potentially dangerous please avoid and stay clear.
As with all activities, care and attention by the individual are needed to reduce the risk of accidents and injury. While every effort is made to highlight risks the best person to keep you safe is you!
Is there anything special I should know about the local beaches?
We hope that good weather will abound and that some of our time will be spent enjoying Pembrokeshire's wonderful coastline.
During the period of camp there are very large tides (the water will change by 7m vertical hight in 6 hours). If you enjoy clambering round the rocks and exploring coves and cave it is VERY EASY to get cut off by the rapidly rising water. Please keep in mind the time of low tide and when your retreat will begin to disappear; it happens faster and sooner than you might imagine!
Be aware of the wind direction if swimming, canoeing or using flotation devices. If the wind offshore (blowing out to sea) be very cautious, the wind has a big affect even on swimmers.
Read the beach notices regarding safe swimming areas and potentially dangerous cliffs areas.
Please seek advices from people who know the locality and always let someone from camp know were you are going and what time you will be back. Sadly, every year, there a casualties from people who do not take these simple safety precautions.
Who do I contact in case of illness or injury?

A&E hospital departments at:
Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest (15miles - 30mins drive) and
